Our guest speakers will share first hand insights into the business, and talk candidly about their experiences – from working in special effects to location managing and producing.

These Q+A sessions – running throughout the anniversary year and hosted by Bradford UNESCO City of Film – offer film fans and those hoping to break into the business, an unprecedented opportunity to learn more about one of the UK’s fastest growing industries. Our speakers have worked on productions such as Vikings, The Tudors, Top Gear, Peaky Blinders, Ackley Bridge, Downton Abbey and Dr Who and will include:

3 October 2019, 6pm- Screenwriter - Micheal Hirst

Michael Hirst was born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1952. He attended Bradford Grammar School, the London School of Economics, Nottingham University and Trinity College, Oxford. He has been a professional writer since 1980. Film scripts have include Fools of Fortune, starring Julie Christie and Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett. Michael has also written television series’ including The Tudors and Vikings.

7 November 2019, 6pm - Anne Sheehan

Anne Sheehan acts as a finance and business affairs consultant for a number of media clients including Magnolia Mae Films. Between 2014 and 2018 she structured the finance and executive produced 9 films for clients: Chef, The Tale of Tales, Miss You Already, Eye in the Sky, Brimstone, The Limehouse Golem, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The White Crow and Official Secrets.

Having qualified as a UK chartered accountant, she began her film career with Warner Bros, and was subsequently a Financial Controller for Palace Pictures, BBC Films, PolyGram Film International and FilmFour
