Protecting the source/wellspring. When navigating a landscape of scarcity and lack, how do we create from a place that invites expansiveness and abundance?

This evening gathering brings together Sudha Bhuchar, Shabina Aslam, and three guest panellists for an open, reflective and expansive conversation about creativity, inspiration and sustaining the “wellspring” we create from.
Shabina Aslam is a writer, director, and producer who serves as the Artistic Director of Theatre in the Mill. She creates theatre and immersive projects that explore migration, identity, and overlooked histories in communities like Bradford.
Nabeela Ahmed is a writer, multilingual poet and spoken word artist. Her debut poetry collection is From Kashmir to Yorkshire. She featured on Radio 4 with Michael Rosen and delivered two bilingual anthologies for City of Culture 2025. She was the Travelling Poet for Word Up North and is the Poet in Residence with People Powered Press.
Samara Daniels is a Bengali writer and performer. She was trained in immersive theatre and started her script writing journey as part of Commonwealth Theatres performance collective in 2024. Since then she has been part of various projects at performances, and most recently was part of Kali Theatre’s Discovery Programme.
Saba Siddiqui Saba Siddiqui (b. 1999) is a Yorkshire-born multimedia artist working in textiles, printmaking, and multisensory installation. Her socially engaged practice draws on resistance, heritage, childhood, community, and intersectional identities. Siddiqui’s work is held in Leeds Art Gallery and Sunny Bank Mills, and she has received several accolades, including the People’s Choice Award for the University of Leeds FUAM Graduate Art Award 2024. She has exhibited with Bradford 2025, Shubbak Festival, and is in the upcoming show ‘Where are you from originally?’ at South Square Centre, Bradford, opening on April 3rd. The event will include a 90 minute panel discussion, reflections and Q&A’s followed by an hour of music, light refreshments, and networking in the café space, designed to connect guests and artists, and deepen the connections that have defined our shared work so far.
From discussing how we create within landscapes of scarcity, to imagining more abundant and expansive futures, Salon Conversations offers an intimate space to come together, listen, and continue the dialogue that has threaded through all our previous collaborations.
