A three-part residency led by Aqeel Parvez at Theatre in the Mill (University of Bradford), culminating in an autumn open mic showcase. Across three generative workshops, participants will generate new drafts and explore poetry through a surreal lens focusing on the subjects of class, conflict, work and labour – from the everyday to the inherited and the intimate to the public.
What’s Involved?
Sessions will use contemporary poems, guided prompts, and supportive discussion to develop voice, imagery, and structure. Open to writers at any stage, with optional sharing and constructive feedback. The residency will culminate in a poetry showcase celebrating new work created during the programme.
About Aqeel 📝
Aqeel Parvez is a Bradford-based poet and creative practitioner, currently studying an MA in Poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is the author of 10 indie press chapbooks and is currently Poet in Residence for the Comino project in Greater Manchester. He is the co-founder of Poets Talking Bollocks, a community-led monthly poetry showcase and podcast, and the creative director of multi-arts project Malnourished Intellect.
